Accommodations

Yale Summer Session students residing on campus will be housed in Berkeley College South, Morse College, and Ezra Stiles College, three of Yale’s undergraduate residential colleges. Each has its own courtyard, dining hall, common room, library, laundry facility, and computer cluster. Room assignments are made upon check-in at the residential colleges.  Most students are housed in a double occupancy room, in a suite with a common room and shared bath.

Housing Check in Information

Housing Check in will be on the Sunday before your program starts from noon - 5:00 pm on the Morse Crescent. It is located across the street from the Payne Whitney Gym at 70 Tower Parkway, New Haven, CT. You will receive your room assignment and Yale Student ID (if you provided a photo in advance online) at check in. Please make every effort to arrive on campus during check in hours (we do not have 24 hour check in). If you plan to arrive on campus after 5:00 pm on Sunday, please let us know on this form

Term of Occupancy

The Housing Office will be located in Morse College and is open for check-in and checkout as described below. No student may move into his or her room before the specified date, and no student may remain in the college after the listed checkout date/time.

Dormitory Furnishings

Rooms in Yale's residential colleges are simply furnished. Each room contains:

  • twin bed, mattress, pillow, blanket
  • desk, chair, bureau, waste basket, recycling bin

Students may also find furniture belonging to previous and returning occupants, which must not be removed or damaged.

Students should bring:

  • sheets (twin extra-long) & towels
  • a desk lamp and a fan (if desired)

Tip: Household items are available for purchase at the Yale Bookstore. Fire codes prohibit halogen lamps. Yale residential college rooms are not centrally air-conditioned and portable air conditioners are not permitted. Fans may be used.

Telephones

Students are advised to bring a cell phone with them or to purchase one upon arrival in New Haven. Telephone service is not provided in the residential colleges.

About Cell Phones (for international students)

International students can and should acquire a US phone number or cell phone for their duration in New Haven in case of emergencies and for ease of communication. Information about how to get a US phone or number can be found here. There are four cell phone companies located within walking distance of campus (a map is located in the above link). AT&T and Sprint are near the intersection of Chapel Street and Temple Street. Cricket and T-Mobile are located at the intersection of Church Street and Chapel Street. You can buy inexpensive pay-as-you-go phones at these locations or an American SIM card for your international phone. AT&T occasionally has student plans as well. US Mobile is also a good website from which to purchase SIM cards or unlocked phones (shipping is typically 4-7 business days).
