Located at Silliman College G11, The YSS Residential office is the central hub for all questions relating to residential life during Yale Summer Session. Feel free to reach out to the staff with any questions you may have. Staff here are also in charge of receiving mail, selling movie tickets, and lending out board games and sports equipment to students.

There are many convenient locations to do laundry within the residential colleges. All of the laundry rooms accept both debit and credit cards and quarters, so you can bring either to use the machines. Each load costs $1.25 for the wash and $1.25 for the dry. Remember to bring your own laundry detergent, powder or liquid. If you need to buy some, check the Yale bookstore.

Packages should not be mailed to the Yale Summer Session office at 55 Whitney Ave.

If you need a post office, Yale Station is a full service U.S. Post Office located on campus, located on the corner of Elm and High Streets.

The Buttery

This summer, YSS will run a virtual buttery, open to enrolled YSS students living on campus. Students can buy essential items online, and the items will be delivered to the student's doorway.

Virtual Buttery delivery hours are 7 days a week from 5pm until midnight.

Tobacco-free Yale

There will be no designated smoking areas on our tobacco-free campus.

Yale University is a tobacco-free environment. On a tobacco free campus, smoking cigarettes, including e-cigarettes, and/or the use of tobacco products is prohibited in all areas including property leased or owned by the university.  University property includes, but is not limited to, our residential colleges and courtyards, classroom buildings, parking lots, paths, fields, sports/recreational areas, stadiums, facilities, and University vehicles regardless of location.

Heat Protocol

Yale Summer Session residential colleges do not have air-conditioning in student bedrooms. Under normal circumstances, you are not permitted to sleep in common spaces. However, on particularly hot days, the Yale Summer Session residential staff will email all residential students to let them know they are allowed to sleep in certain common spaces for that night if they wish, to take advantage of the air conditioning in those areas. Counselors will be present throughout the night to supervise, and quiet hours will begin at 11 pm. If there is excessive heat, you will go to your college's designated area. Some yoga mats will be available, but please bring your own sheets, pillows, and/or blankets. You may not sleep on pool tables, ping pong tables, or pianos.
