Online Course. Introduces students to the writings and ideas of the major ancient Greek and Roman philosophers, with a focus on Plato, Aristotle, the pre-Socratics, and some figures in Hellenistic philosophy. Discusses themes in metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of mind, philosophy of science, philosophical methodology, ethics, and metaethics, with a particular focus on virtue, change and causation, and the nature of the soul.
