In-person Course. Introduction to contemporary philosophical debate about the nature of lies and deception. Definitions of lying and deception, including whether all lies necessarily aim to deceive; moral justifications for lying and deceit and their counterarguments; ways in which the moral arguments against deception of others can apply to self-deception. Enrollment limited to 21 students. 1 Credit. Session B: June 30 – August 1. Tuition: $5270.
