Your Next Steps
Congratulations on your acceptance to Yale Summer Session! We're excited to have you join us online this summer. This page contains important things you need to do and think about after being admitted, but before you start taking your classes this summer. It is important to monitor the email that you used in your application for important next steps. If you are not receiving emails from our office after admission, please contact us.
Confirm Your Attendance
Let us know you're joining us! To confirm your participation, please take a moment to accept your offer by following the link in your acceptance email and inform us of your plans to attend this summer. If your plans have changed, you can update us through the same link. We encourage you to complete the form as soon as possible to help us prepare for your arrival.
Activate Your NetID
After your acceptance to Summer Session, you will receive two email messages regarding your Yale NetID approximately 7 to 10 business days after admission. One message will contain your NetID and the other message will contain your activation PIN and instructions. You will need to activate your NetID as soon as you receive these emails so you will have access to Yale's systems.
If you are a currently-enrolled Yale student, you will continue to use your current NetID and Password.
Pay Your Tuition and Other Fees
Once you are admitted to Yale Summer Session, an invoice for your tuition, housing, etc. is automatically generated. See how to pay your tuition and fees, our payment deadlines and more information on our Tuition and Fees page.
Contact Student Accessibility Services as Needed
Yale University is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to students with disabilities in order to provide equitable and inclusive learning environments. If you are a student with a disability and would like to request disability-related accommodations, the first step is to register with Yale Student Accessibility Services, where you can include information about your situation and upload supporting documentation. If you’ve previously been approved for accommodations at Yale, you simply need to renew accommodations for the summer term. Accommodations require early and quick planning in Yale Summer Session and are not provided retroactively, so please make contact as soon as possible.
Ensure Your Technical Equipment Meets These Requirements
Yale Summer Online utilizes the Canvas learning management system to deliver the course material.
- You can view the Canvas system requirements here.
- All courses include online discussion sections over the Zoom video conferencing system - system requirements.
- You need to have a way to transmit video. Cameras built into computer monitors are sufficient. For students who do not have a built-in camera on their computer, one can be purchased inexpensively. Here is an example.
When possible, we urge you to have a wired Internet connection for the live discussion sections.
[point] Yale Summer Online courses feature weekly live video-based group meetings with faculty. It is essential that each participant has the requisite Internet speed of at least 2 Mb/s down / up. Please check your speed from your summer course location.
