Each page must include your name. Note genre of the submission: fiction or nonfiction. Apply to the workshop that matches your genre.
  • You may apply to both the on-ground Workshop and the remote Workshop, but review the commitment to each session.
  • New in 2024: rolling admission process. Applications will be reviewed as they are submitted and notifications sent out soon thereafter. This means workshops will fill prior to the application deadline. So check workshop availability prior to submitting your application. If you want to work with a particular instructor, apply early.
  • Application portal opens January 16, 2024.
  • Admissions decisions are made by the Yale Writers' Workshop Admissions Committee and will be released on a rolling admissions basis every Friday.

  • All students coming to campus must follow Yale's Immunization Requirements.
  • Manuscripts are due to your instructor by May 5, 2024.

All writers are assigned to a workshop in the order in which they register. We will make every effort to honor your faculty preference.

"I really enjoyed this program and learned a lot through it. I became finer in my writing and found a whole new joy in sharing my work and hearing the works of others. Thank you all who made this past week possible."
