Eligibility
YYWW on campus is open to students who are between the ages of 16 and 18 and are rising high school seniors. YYWW virtual is open to students who are between the ages of 16 and 18 and are rising high school juniors or rising high school seniors.
Admissions Requirements
To apply to the Yale Young Writers' Workshop, please submit the following:
1. Online Application
2. Writing Sample
- Length: 500 words
- Formatting: Double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12-point font, one-inch margins
- Include your name on each page
- Indicate your genre: Fiction, Nonfiction, or Poetry
- Upload electronically as a Word document
3. High School Transcript
Submit an official transcript, or a copy if the official one is not yet available.
4. Letters of Recommendation
Two letters from teachers, mentors, or others who can speak to your writing ability and potential.
5. Forms for Minors Living On Campus
Complete all five required forms.

Minors residing on campus as part of the Yale Summer Session must submit five required forms with their application. These forms must be printed, signed by a parent or guardian, and uploaded to the application portal.

Minor students who are living on campus and participating in the Yale Young Writers' Workshop must also fill out a Health Exam Form in lieu of immunization records.

Refund Policy
We will refund 75% for cancellation requests received by April 24, 2026, and 50% for cancellation requests received by May 1, 2026. We will be unable to honor refund requests received after May 1, 2026.
