Here, you’ll find everything you need to know about the upcoming sessions, tuition fees, and the application process. Whether you're applying for an on-campus or online session, this page will guide you through important dates, costs, and the steps to secure your place in one of our transformative writing workshops. Eligibility

YYWW on campus is open to students who are between the ages of 16 and 18 and are rising high school seniors.  YYWW virtual is open to students who are between the ages of 16 and 18 and are rising high school juniors or rising high school seniors.

Admissions Requirements

To apply for the Yale Young Writers' Workshop, please submit the following materials:

  1. Online Application
  2. Writing Sample - A writing sample is required as part of your application. Please upload your sample electronically as a Word document. The submission must meet the following guidelines:
    • Length: 500 words
    • Formatting: Double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12-point font, one-inch margins
    • Include your name on each page
    • Indicate the genre of your submission (Fiction, Non-fiction, or Poetry)
  3. High School Transcript - Submit an official high school transcript, or a copy if available.
  4. Two Letters of Recommendation - Provide two letters of recommendation from teachers, mentors, or others who can speak to your writing abilities and potential.

Minors residing on campus as part of the Yale Young Writers' Workshop must submit five required forms with their application. These forms must be printed, signed by a parent or guardian, and uploaded to the application portal.

Refund Policy

We will refund 75% for cancellation requests received by April 24, 2026, and 50% for cancellation requests received by May 1, 2026. We will be unable to honor refund requests received after May 1, 2026.
