Application Information

The Seminar in Art History is open to college students, graduate students, educators, artists, and lifelong learners with an interest in art, material culture, or hands-on making. No prior studio experience is expected. Applicants must be at least 18 years old by the start of the program.

Program Dates: Monday, June 15 - Friday, June 19, 2026

Submit an application through the Yale Summer Session Application Portal.

Application Materials:
Applicants must provide:

  • A brief statement (250–300 words) describing your interest in the course and what you hope to gain from the experience
  • A current résumé or CV (for participants who are beyond college)
  • Unofficial academic transcript (students only)

Deadlines:
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the course is full. Early submission is encouraged. The final application deadline is Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

Admission Decisions:
Applicants will be notified via e-mail. Enrollment is capped to ensure meaningful hands-on engagement with objects and materials.
