The English Language Institute at Yale Summer Session

Offered during Yale Summer Session B, the English Language Institute (ELI) gives you an immersive learning experience on Yale’s historic campus. You’ll strengthen your English language skills while developing academic and professional competencies alongside a global community of students.

You’ll live in Yale’s residential colleges, take part in faculty-led lectures and campus events, and enjoy a full social program that includes local excursions and trips beyond New Haven.

If you successfully complete the program, you’ll receive a Certificate of Participation, along with valuable skills, connections, and insight into American academic and cultural life.

[point] You do not need to provide proof of English proficiency for ELI programs. However, if you enroll in the Law or Business Seminars, you are expected to have strong English language skills.
